After a slow start to November we can safely say that winter is well and truly arrived and we will be having a very white Christmas throughout the Whistler Blackcomb valley.

The snow has been falling constantly for the last 7 days and we have seen an epic 74cm in the last 48 hours. The base on mid-mountain is now over 2 meters and we have already had over 5 meters of snow fall with plenty more forecast for the next week. All runs are open with ski outs possible to the valley in Creekside, Whistler Village and Blackcomb base. Out of bounds runs like the infamous Kyber Pass are filled in and there are plenty of fresh lines to be had if you know where to go!

Today we hit the hill with our first campers of the season. We were greeted with 22cm of new snow, on top of the 38cm from the day before. Everyone came out of the gate swinging, and at some stages wading out of all the new snow. In the end everyone came away from the day stoked, ready to push it, and learn more tomorrow.

After a long summer there are a few things you can do to make your first day back snowboarding up the mountain more sucessful.  Here are a few simple tips the Pro Ride coaches do before their first day back on the hill.    

1. Make sure to tighten all your snowboard hardware /screws
2. Freshly wax your snowboard and tune your edges
3. Wear your boots for an hour the night before to re-shapen your boots
4. Warm up and stretch before and after you ride
5. Take it easy on the 1st day, its a long season.

Winter is starting to apear around the corner. Boards are coming out of the closet, and jacket are becoming an outdoor nececity. Now is the time to, not only prepar you gear, but also prepar your body. It's important to train those winter riding muscles, that are often neglected over the summer, so you can start the season strong and stay injury free (and infornt of your friends).
Here are some ideas to get you started on your pre-season training.

Crispin Lipscomb has been in Wanaka New Zealand the last few weeks, helping Katie Tsuyuki train for the 2014 Olympics in Russia. It looks like they have been getting amazing weather, and as always they are working hard and playing around.

It's official Coach Crispin Lipscomb will be hard at work this season as technical coach to Candian Katie Tsuyuki for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.  He is flying down south to NZ in the next few weeks to start training with Katie and her head coach Roberto Marifa during Spring Camp at Cardrona Park. Katie who's a former Pro Ride coach, is working hard to prepare and qualify for the half pipe event at the 2014 Winter Games. Crispin's years of experience in and out of the pipe makes him the best when it comes to technical advice. With Katie's good work ethic and her coach's guidance there is no stopping her.
