"Steep and Deep" - Fresh snow this Week!
Powder hikes, steeps, deep tree runs and sunny park laps were the call of duty this week for our January campers. All thanks to the storm that rolled in last weekend, we were gifted with another 50cm of fresh snow. We couldn't hide the smiles... no matter how much our legs were burning!
Camper Jamal (above) in his natural habitat, hiking up on the Blackcomb Glacier. Below our girl shredders Anny and Amanda put their first tracks down some steep powder-filled tree runs!
Safety is absolutely paramount to us here at Pro Ride camps. This week our campers got their first taste of avalanche skills and backcountry awareness, with the session covering all the basics from terrain evaluation, safety equipment (playing with shovels, avalanche transceivers, probes), snowpack pit digging to rescue techniques. The session sparked a renewed respect for the surroundings around us and our shared responsibility to protect it, and we thank Whistler Blackcomb for hosting such a fun and informative session.
That's all from us this week, have a great weekend guys!
Ps. Coach Duncan didn't just climb up that tree... did he??
